We will be running the school bond issue again on February 10th, with early voting on February 5th and 6th. This bond is a $15.7 million, no tax increase proposal that allows us to continue making much-needed improvements across the district.
If passed, this bond will allow us to:
- Remodel Will Rogers Lower Elementary in order to serve as our 1st-3rd grade center
- Add a 16-classroom addition at Will Rogers Lower Elementary , including a storm shelter
- Install a new playground at Will Rogers Lower Elementary
- Replace exterior walls and complete restroom renovations at Nichols Upper Elementary
- Remodel the Nichols field house, creating a renovated space for the Miami Innovation Center- Alternative Academy to move out of their existing space at Will Rogers.
These projects are about improving learning spaces, safety, and functionality for our students and staff. More information will be shared as we get closer to the election.

⭐How Do No Tax Increase Bonds Work?
When the last bond passed for the additions at MHS and Nichols, the millage (millage means how much property tax money is collected to fund our schools) was set high enough to allow us to fund future projects without raising taxes again. If bond issues aren’t renewed, the millage will decline, and future improvements could require a tax increase. Our long-term facility plan is to keep bonds on a steady cycle so we can maintain and improve our schools while avoiding tax increases.
