Miami, OK – May 7, 2025 — Miami Public Schools is proud to announce Sarah Corter, 4th grade Reading and ELA teacher at Nichols Upper Elementary, as the 2024-2025 District Teacher of the Year.

With five years of experience in education, Corter is known for creating a classroom where students feel seen, valued, and inspired to succeed. Her passion for literacy has led to remarkable academic growth among her students, with nearly 98% showing measurable improvement in reading and many advancing multiple grade levels in a single year.

Beyond the classroom, Corter serves as a department lead, PLC leader, and is pursuing her Master’s in Reading at Northeastern State University. She is also deeply involved in community service, supporting youth through ministry, mentoring, and local outreach.

Corter will now represent Miami Public Schools in the 2025 Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year competition.
