Miami, OK – Miami High School is proud to announce the hiring of Kelcee Henry as the new head coach of the Lady Wardogs softball program. A familiar face in the Miami community, Henry brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach, making her the perfect fit to lead the team forward.
Henry, a 2014 graduate of Miami High School, was a four-year starter at middle infield and a three-year starter for the basketball team. She continued her softball career at Southwest Baptist University from 2014-2018, where she excelled as a second baseman and earned Academic All-American honors twice.
Following her collegiate career, Henry returned to Miami High School in 2018 to begin her coaching journey as an assistant coach. She later took on head coaching roles at Afton High School (2021-2024) and Berryhill High School (2024-2025), where she further developed her leadership and coaching skills. Now, Henry returns to Miami with a deep commitment to fostering a strong and competitive softball program.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Henry back to Miami,” said Rusty Mercer, athletic director at Miami Public Schools. “She is a Wardog and with her experience as a player and coach, along with her dedication to student-athletes, she is a perfect fit to lead our Softball program.”
Henry is joined in Miami by her husband, Dusty Henry, and their two children, GJ and Hunter. She is eager to build on the strong traditions of Miami softball and is excited to lead the Lady Wardogs to future success.
Miami High School looks forward to the upcoming softball season under Henry’s leadership and encourages the community to join in supporting the Lady Wardogs.
