Kalee Baxter Named Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Miami High School

Miami, Oklahoma – May 9, 2024 – Miami Public Schools (MPS) proudly announces the appointment of Kalee Baxter as the new head girls’ basketball coach at Miami High School. With an impressive background in coaching and a passion for fostering athletic and personal growth, Baxter brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the program.

A native of Oklahoma, Kalee Baxter graduated from Stratford High School in 2008 before pursuing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Central Oklahoma University in 2012 and 2014, respectively. With ten years of experience in education and coaching, Baxter has built a strong reputation.

Baxter’s coaching journey includes a successful tenure as head coach at Waurika, Oklahoma, where she amassed an impressive 74-47 record over five years. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at Chouteau for the past two years, further honing her skills and leadership capabilities.

In response to Baxter’s appointment, Rusty Mercer, Athletic Director at MPS, expressed excitement, stating, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have found Kalee, and we are excited to watch her lead and develop our girls’ basketball program.”

Kalee Baxter herself shared her enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I’m honored and excited to accept the head girls basketball coach position at Miami High School. Along with my dedication to fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth, I am eager to lead our team to new heights and create a positive impact both on and off the court. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I can’t wait to get started.”

Outside of her coaching endeavors, Baxter finds joy and support in her family life, as she is married to her husband Adam, with whom she shares five children.

Miami Public Schools and Miami High School are confident that Kalee Baxter’s leadership will inspire and empower the next generation of athletes, both on the court and beyond.
